fermacell® ceiling systems: stability, safety and efficiency in a single system
fermacell® ceiling systems use high-strength gypsum fibre‑ and Powerpanel‑Panels with single-layer cladding form part of solutions with defined fire protection‑ and sound insulation classes, as well as dry installation processes. Ceiling systems based on fermacell® products support sustainable, cost-effective and safety-oriented solutions.
fermacell® ceiling solutions are a robust building block for stable, quiet and safe rooms – without lengthy construction times and using minimal materials.
Dense gypsum fibre structures enhance sound insulation and fire resistance.
Mechanically robust and stable, making it suitable for supporting lights, installations and attachments.
It is often possible to use a single layer of cladding instead of two, which saves on materials and time.
fermacell® products
gypsum fibreboard
fermacell® gypsum fibreboards are designed as solid, homogeneous boards for ceiling structures subject to mechanical stress and are used in demanding drywall systems. They meet fire and sound insulation requirements and provide impact-resistant, durable cladding.
ACOUSTIC
fermacell® Acoustic is an acoustic panel system comprising sound-absorbing panels that also enhance the aesthetic appeal of a room. The system is based on the high stability of fermacell® gypsum fibreboards with precise perforations. FAQ
You can find clear answers to the most frequently asked questions in our FAQ section.
fermacell® Powerpanel HD – Direct boarding on a timber stud frame in timber construction:
James Hardie offers the HD rendering system for fermacell® Powerpanel HD. Further information and installation instructions can be found in the document: "fermacell® and James Hardie in Timber Construction – Planning and Installation".
Our application video is also available to assist you with the installation of fermacell® Powerpanel HD boards. fermacell® Powerpanel HD cannot be used for ventilated facades. Further plastering recommendations are available on request.
fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O – Ventilated curtain wall:
fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O may only be coated using the systems specified in the approval; these can be found in the fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O Außen_Z31-4181. If you wish to use weather protection systems from other manufacturers, please contact us via the technical customer hotline. Other finishes, such as tiles or other plasters, cannot be used! Further installation instructions can be found in our manual: "fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O for external use".
Yes! fermacell® gypsum fibreboards with a thickness of 10 mm or more are classified as arc-resistant to Class LV 1.1.1.1 (the highest classification). Further information on this can be found in the brochure Planning and construction in timber building.
No, although fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O can be used in environments with high humidity and consistently high temperatures, the climatic conditions in saunas and steam rooms are constantly changing. Like any building product, fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O is subject to a certain degree of expansion and contraction, which can then lead to cracks in the joint areas.
Furthermore, additives such as essential oils etc. can cause damage to the board structure. fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O must only be used behind timber cladding in these areas, and even then only with boards butt-jointed at the joints.
Yes, one change of material per wall surface is permitted.
The points to be taken into account are set out in the document fermacell®® Powerpanel H2O Wet room panels – planning and installation listed below.
There is no height restriction under the general type approval for fermacell® Powerpanel H2O. The height restriction is determined by the project-specific structural analysis and calculations regarding wind and snow loads, and by the relevant national building requirements in accordance with the Building Regulations (LBO). This is then carried out in conjunction with the statutory regulations (e.g. Model Administrative Regulation on Technical Building Regulations (MVV TB) or state-specific VV TB), technical rules/building regulations such as the Model Timber Construction Guideline (MHolzRL) and generally accepted rules of technology. (e.g. DIN 4102-4).
Further details can be found in the manual fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O for external use – planning and installation.
