fermacell® walls are designed as substructures for timber and drywall construction: robust, dimensionally stable sheathing and coordinated components provide clear parameters for planning and execution. High load-bearing capacity supports built-in elements and installations; fire and sound insulation requirements are incorporated into the defined structure. Installation follows a clear drywall system and supports efficient cladding concepts – including in standard timber construction.
Floor
Floor panels for efficient interior fit-out
fermacell® screed elements are available as dry screed solutions for a 100% dry construction method designed. They facilitate short installation times without introducing additional moisture. Their low weight and slim profile make them particularly suitable for renovation, extension and timber-beamed ceilings. If required, the underfloor heating can be integrated as a system layer.
Facade
Cladding panels for long-lasting building performance
fermacell® façade solutions are designed for robust, weather-resistant structures in timber and lightweight construction. Cement-bonded Powerpanel boards meet a range of requirements: Powerpanel HD as a load-bearing and stiffening external wall panel that serves as a substrate for direct cladding and rendering, Powerpanel H2O for areas exposed to moisture, as well as for curtain walls and rear-ventilated façades.

In general, fermacell® fibre gypsum boards – regardless of its thickness – is a non-combustible material with a building material classification of A2 in accordance with DIN EN 13501-1.
Classification into so-called fire resistance classes (designated, for example, as F30) always refers to the entire structure and does not depend solely on the cladding material used and the number of layers.
Other factors also come into play here, such as the type of construction (e.g. wall/ceiling), the insulation materials used, fixings, the substructure, etc. You will find a clear overview of the relevant parameters and components in our specification guide.
The blanket statement that "one layer of fermacell® gypsum fibreboard is equivalent to F30" is therefore incorrect.
Yes! fermacell® gypsum fibreboards with a thickness of 10 mm or more are classified as arc-resistant to Class LV 1.1.1.1 (the highest classification). Further information on this can be found in the brochure Planning and construction in timber building.
The gypsum used in fermacell® is mainly derived from flue gas desulphurisation gypsum, a by-product of flue gas cleaning, and is therefore considered to be relatively sustainable. However, the extraction of natural gypsum is also carried out in a sustainable and resource-efficient manner and therefore does not pose a problem.
In private homes, as well as in hotels and office buildings, there is no need to provide edge protection. The fermacell® gypsum fibreboard is strong enough.
