FAQ
You can find clear answers to the most frequently asked questions in our FAQ section.
No, although fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O can be used in environments with high humidity and consistently high temperatures, the climatic conditions in saunas and steam rooms are constantly changing. Like any building product, fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O is subject to a certain degree of expansion and contraction, which can then lead to cracks in the joint areas.
Furthermore, additives such as essential oils etc. can cause damage to the board structure. fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O must only be used behind timber cladding in these areas, and even then only with boards butt-jointed at the joints.
Yes, that is possible. You can find detailed information on bending radii and processing in the manual fermacell®® Powerpanel H²O – the panel for wet rooms.
fermacell® gypsum fibreboards and fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O can be fixed to timber stud frames using staples, nails or fermacell™ drywall screws. For metal stud frames, fermacell™ drywall screws must be used. With gypsum fibreboards, a substructure-neutral “board-to-board” fixing method using staples or drywall screws is also possible. The dimensions of the fasteners, the exact spacing requirements and the consumption rates per m² can be found in the handbook: “fermacell® and Hardie® Products in Timber Construction – Planning and Installation” and in the handbook: “fermacell® Powerpanel H₂O – the Wet Room Board”.
No, this method of fixing is not permitted.
Due to the properties of the material, the panel can only be installed on a metal or timber substructure, depending on the specific application. Further information can be found in the manual fermacell® Powerpanel H2O – the wet room panel – planning and installation.
