fermacell™ floor systems
fermacell™ floor systems offer exceptional surface hardness and load-bearing capacity with a low installation height, as well as high load-bearing capacity despite their low weight. The dry layered construction allows the floor to be ready for finishing immediately and speeds up the overall progress of timber construction projects.
fermacell® flooring elements: no additional insulation required. Versatile screed panels.
fermacell® screed panels with mineral wool: High thermal insulation. Reliable soundproofing. Effective fire protection.
fermacell® screed panels with wood fibre insulation: Eco-friendly insulation. Soundproofing. Fire protection in the building structure.
fermacell® screed panels with EPS insulation: Improved sound insulation. Fire protection. Thermal insulation
fermacell® screed panels with felt fibre insulation: Airborne and impact sound – for solid and lightweight ceilings.
High fire resistance and maximum flexibility of use
fermacell® screed elements meet the demanding requirements of modern interior construction.
Maximum fire protection: The integrated mineral wool insulation is non-combustible and actively contributes to fire safety. In certified structures, F 60 classifications are achieved without the need for additional measures, as well as F 90 and F 120 superstructures can be achieved by adding additional layers – ideal for enhanced fire safety requirements.
Suitable for damp locations: Safe to use in Damp rooms in water exposure classes W0-I and W1-I. This makes it suitable for use in bathrooms, kitchens or utility rooms in both residential and commercial buildings.
Compatible with underfloor heating and floor coverings: Ideal for Hot-water underfloor heating systems.
Complete freedom in further design thanks to its suitability for almost all standard surface finishes such as tiles, parquet, designer flooring or carpet.

FAQ
You can find clear answers to the most frequently asked questions in our FAQ section.
Insulation materials used for additional thermal and sound insulation, as well as for levelling the surface beneath fermacell® screed elements, must be approved by fermacell® James Hardie®. Our approved insulation materials possess the necessary strength and are tailored to the properties of the screed elements and the required load-bearing capacity. A list of suitable insulation materials can be found here.
Further information on impact sound insulation can be found in the handbook "fermacell™ Floor Systems – Planning and Installation" and in our list of insulation materials. For exposed timber beam ceilings, the fermacell™ honeycomb insulation system is recommended, amongst other solutions, for effective impact sound improvement.
Standard formats
Tiles and natural stone slabs with a maximum edge length of 330 mm may generally be used on all fermacell® screed elements.
If impact sound insulation boards made of mineral wool or fermacell® screed elements laminated with mineral wool are used, natural stone or terracotta tiles are not permitted.
Tiles are laid using the thin-bed method on fermacell® gypsum fibre screed panels. When using fermacell™ Flex adhesive, a primer is not required. Tiles can be laid on fermacell® Powerpanel TE using either the thin-bed or medium-bed method. When using fermacell™ Flex Adhesive, a primer (e.g. fermacell™ Deep Primer) is required.
Large-format tiles
fermacell® screed elements are suitable for laying stoneware tiles of any size. Certain specifications must be strictly adhered to during installation. Further information on this can be found in the tile list.
Further necessary information can be found in our handbook: "fermacell®™ Floor Systems – Planning and Installation", as well as in the document: "Installation Guidelines for Tiled Flooring on fermacell Floor Systems". Only approved systems may be used for bonding. Please refer to the same document for further guidance.
fermacell® screed elements are suitable as a substrate for the direct bonding of multi-layer parquet in accordance with DIN EN 13489 (e.g. pre-finished parquet elements) and mosaic parquet in accordance with DIN EN 13488. The latter must be laid in a pattern (e.g. herringbone or cube pattern), as this allows the parquet floor to expand in different directions in the event of swelling.
Mosaic parquet must only be installed in a different direction or using other solid wood species and types of parquet with the adhesive manufacturer’s approval. You can also find information on parquet adhesives in our list of recommendations.
Further information can be found in our handbook: "fermacell® Floor Systems – Planning and Installation".
A variety of resilient floor coverings can be laid over fermacell® screed elements, such as carpet, laminate, cork, PVC, linoleum, elastomer and LVT design flooring.
You can find more detailed information on this in the technical documentation: "Installation guidelines for resilient floor coverings on fermacell™ floor systems".
Thanks to the stepped joint, fermacell® screed elements can be used to create a secure (mechanical) bond even in the area of doorways.
