The revised version of the Model Guideline on fire safety requirements for building components and external wall cladding in timber construction (MHolzBauRL), published in September 2024, opens up further possibilities for timber construction in building classes 4 and 5.

Amendments to the Timber Construction Regulations

New, simplified versions of fire-resistant cladding are now permitted, depending on the building class and the size of the units. In general, minimum requirements apply to fire-resistant cladding regarding the required fire resistance rating (tch) These are set at 30, 60 and 90 minutes.
